  • Q. I have an old phone. Will it still be supported?

    A. Cellifieds™ makes every attempt to support as many mobile phones as possible, but there will always be exceptions, especially with phones over 5 years old. To buy items, you need a phone which can connect to the mobile web (often referred to to as WAP or mobile Internet). To sell items, you will also need a camera on the phone and be able to send pictures over multimedia/picture messages. If in doubt, please contact your mobile phone provider or take a look at our (growing) supported phone list.

  • Q. I sent an multimedia/picture message to 88810, but I receieved no response. What is going on?

    A. Firstly, please check that you are with O2 or Orange. Currently, we only support these two phone networks for multimedia/picture messages, but will be expanding to others soon! If you are using a supported phone network, but still haven't received a reply, please ensure you have reception. Allow a few minutes for the reply message to be sent to you, as there can sometimes be a short delay.

  • Q. Can I open the WAP/mobile web pages directly without sending a multimedia/picture message?

    A. You can still browse for items by opening http://cellifieds.co.uk/m directly in your WAP browser. You won't be able to sell items or set alerts, but you will be able to browse and buy items without any problems!

  • Q. After sending a multimedia/picture message, I have received my introduction, but when I click the link, my phone won't show me the mobile web page. What is wrong?

    A. Assuming you have reception, the link should take you to a mobile web page through your phone's browser. If this does not happen, it could be due to your phone not being configured to allow mobile web access. Please contact your phone network provider and ask them for help connecting to the Internet via your mobile phone.

  • Q. Can I send videos of my item?

    A. Depending on your phone, yes, you can send videos. If you add a short video in MMS format to your multimedia/picture message, in the same way as you would add photos, Cellifieds™ will do the rest. It may take a little longer to show on your item details, as we may have to check suitability. A video will make your advert stand out above the crowd. Make sure it is of good quality, fun or quirky and it will help you sell your item.

  • Q. Can I use Cellifieds outside of the UK?

    A. If you are using a handset from a UK network, outside of the UK, then in many cases, yes. As long as the country you are connecting from have an inter-networking agreement, you can just send your multimedia/picture messages to 88810 as usual. If you are not using a handset from a UK network, you will not be able to send messages to 88810. We intend to grow to support other countries and to provide a long number (ie. full UK phone number) to support those customers outside of the UK in the future.

  • Q. My images look blury or low quality. Can I improve this?

    A. Depending on how your phone to connects to the internet, images may be compressed. With O2, your phone usually comes with several options: O2 Mobile Web, O2 MMS and O2 WAP. The first, O2 Mobile Web will compress the images, reducing quality (but increasing speed). The other two, MMS and WAP will not compress the images, so they will be much better quality. With Orange, the quality should default to uncompressed, meaning your images will always look crisp. If you have any questions/problems with image compression, please contact your phone network provider for advice.

  • Q. Why do I keep getting messages asking me to 'Check out the new Cellifieds service...'?

    A. Cellifieds™ sends out these messages when you add or renew an item on Cellifieds™. Rather than sending a boring 'your item has been renewed' message, we thought we would send a message which you can forward to your friends, to tell them all about Cellifieds™! Remember, for every new referral which follows the link in the message, enters their details and confirms their phone number, you get £1.00 of FREE sale credits! These can be offset against your current renewal costs or any new items you may add.

  • Q. What are sale credits?

    A. Sale credits are used to pay for advertising items on Cellifieds™. From time to time, we may run promotions which give you FREE sale credits, which you can use to advertise new, or renew existing, items. Currently, we're running a referral scheme where you get £1.00 of FREE sale credits for each referral you make.

  • Q. What are referral messages and how do I get one to send to my friends?

    A. Cellifieds™ automatically sends out referral messages when you advertise an item. This is so you can encourage your friends to buy your item, while at the same time helping us grow. We repay you for helping us become popular by giving you FREE sale credits. Alternatively, you can refer friends from your account section (TBC), once you have confirmed your phone number with us. Help put us on a map by telling your friends as your recommendations mean the world to us!
